Butterfield Mortgages appoints apprentice to credit risk team

Butterfield Mortgages has announced the appointment of a new credit administrator, who joins the credit risk team after completing an apprenticeship programme with the prime mortgage lender.

Navishna Arcson began her career as an apprentice in the front of house team and then successfully completed a data technician qualification. She will now report to Anthony Neville, Butterfield Mortgages’ head of credit, in her new role in credit risk.

Arcson’s responsibilities include documenting facility letters, liaising with solicitors and valuers, and the completion of new and renewing mortgages, as well as the administration of Butterfield Mortgages’ loan book.

Arcson’s appointment exemplifies Butterfield Mortgages’ commitment to providing accessible pathways into financial services. The lender has a strong history of placing apprentices to foster talent and help individuals gain valuable work experience in the mortgage sector, allowing them to carve out their professional journey into the department that most interests them.

Past graduates from the apprenticeship scheme have completed their ACCA accountancy qualifications while working at Butterfield Mortgages and have since gone on to work in senior positions at larger firms, including a well-known international bank. The lender currently has one other apprentice working to support the compliance team.

Arcson said: “Butterfield Mortgages’ apprentice scheme has enabled me to gain invaluable workplace experience in a front of house position while also completing a data technician qualification. Being exposed to all business areas during my studies provided me with a deep understanding of Butterfield and the wider lending industry, enabling me to immediately put what I was learning into practice.

“I’m looking forward to getting started in my new role and using my qualification to further enhance my skills and contribute to the Credit Risk team.”

Anthony Neville added: “I am delighted that we have been able to develop a pathway for Navi following the successful completion of her apprenticeship. Throughout her time with Butterfield, she has demonstrated the skills and attitude needed to excel in the prime mortgage market. I am confident that these qualities will ensure that she has a very successful career, and I look forward to watching her continued development in the Credit Risk team.”
